Welcome to 2019!
Do you feel like you have had a break?
So many people I have talked to so far have told me that they just took a deep breath out when they finished off what they were doing in the last days of 2018 and had a really relaxing time with family, friends, or just on their own.
Others, had a great break yet is was so stuffed full of running this way and that to meet the needs of everyone that they don't feel relaxed and ready for the year. They still feel full up like the proverbial food coma many of get at Christmas time.
You may have had time to sit and contemplate what is it that you really want to keep, be rid of , or bring in to your like (aka goals, vision boards, New Year’s resolutions) for 2019 and that's great.
If you did, here is a great tool for you to use to keep track of your progress during the year. You can download it, fill in the things you want to be consistent about achieving and put it up on the fridge.
If you haven't yet set your intentions for the year, it is never too late to take a few moments and stop and breathe, get comfortable and feel into what it is that will really serve you well this year.
These next six steps might help. (BONUS step at the end)
6 STEPS to writing a goal and vision list that you will stick to....
1. Find some paper and a pen
Writing down your thoughts helps to gel in your mind all the things that are you are looking to do. Grab a piece of paper, your journal, a napkin at the coffee shop.
2. Create some space for yourself
Find a spot that you feel relaxed in. It might be the garden, your favourite comfy chair, or at a coffee shop. You will only need a short time.
3. Relax and get in touch with yourself
Now that you are comfy. Close your eyes and sit quietly for a few moments. Bring your awareness to your breath. Just breathe quietly for a few breaths and start to feel into your body. Notice how you are feeling right now. Consciously relax every part of you from the head to the toe. Inhale and exhale slowly and at a rate that relaxes you.
4. Start writing your should do's and have to's and want to’s
Open your eyes and take up your pen and write down all the things that are currently on your plate. Your to do list of should do's and have to's and the ones that you really want to do to bring more of what you want into your life. Think about relationships, career, learning, passions, fun, family, money, health and anything else that you feel and think you want.
5. What do you REALLY need?
Now feel and think into what it is that will really serve you well at the point in your life
Draw three columns on the page with the headings KEEP DOING, STOP DOING, START DOING.
The thing with having a busy life and trying to meet the needs of everyone including you, things can get a bit muddled. You suddenly realise you are doing things that really don't bring into your life the things that bring you joy, happiness and fulfilment. By prioritising your goals, visions and "to do" lists you start to get a sense of how much time, effort and energy you are putting into things that are not really what you want.
6. NOW it’s time to write your 2019 goals and intent list
These goals, intents, visions are coming from deep within, rather than just a whim or what you thought you wanted. Prioritise the KEEP DOING and START DOING and make a commitment to let go of the things on your STOP DOING list.
This will make them easier to commit to particularly if you are changing and transitioning some aspect of your life.
To help you, you are reminded to download and fill out the INTENT tracking sheet and pop it on your fridge where you can see it daily.
Just by going through this process, your year will seem clearer and your energy lighter. You can stop there if you like.
PLUS ...If you really want to take this further there is a STEP 7.........
If you really want to lock in your goals, intentions, and passions for 2019 you can do this through Breathwork.
Using your own breath you can breathe in to every cell of your body all that you are going for and on the exhale you let go of everything that is locked in your cellular memory that might get in the what of what you want.
What do I mean by that?
Have you ever noticed that when you are going for something better, like a relationship or better health something always seems to come up to get in the way? Your old ways kick in and you don’t get there as fast as you would like or worse still you fall of the band wagon and “give it up” until next year.
This may be because deep inside the cells of your body you are holding something in your memory that is bringing up all of the “I can’t do that”, “ I am not worthy of having that”, “that’s too hard for me to achieve” … the list goes on.
By using a method called conscious connected breathing you have the opportunity to seek out and exhale these blocks from your cellular memory to make room for all that you are going for on your list for 2019.
Do this in a group Breathwork workshop or in a private consultation.
